Center for Applied Research in Dementia Presents Credential

CLACKAMAS, Ore. (Dec. 7, 2023) – Miramont Pointe, managed by The Goodman Group, received the Silver Level designation as a Montessori Inspired Lifestyle® Credentialed Community from the Center for Applied Research in Dementia. The community joins an exclusive group of credentialed senior living communities that have implemented a revolutionary Montessori-based approach to memory care. Achieving this credential demonstrates that the community has established outstanding efforts to improve the quality of life for memory care residents through the values and principles embodied in the Montessori Inspired Lifestyle approach of care.

“This is an incredible achievement for our community. We are so honored to receive the Silver Level designation and I’m grateful for every individual that helped in this continuous journey of improving quality care,” said Executive Director Trevor Taylor.

Miramont Pointe’s Pearls of Life® memory care neighborhood offers Montessori Inspired Lifestyle, a positive approach to providing care for adults living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease that is based on the methods of Maria Montessori and adapted for adults by Dr. Cameron Camp, founder of the Center for Applied Research in Dementia.

Guided by the Center for Applied Research in Dementia, team members learned how to implement the Montessori principles of equality, dignity, and respect into the community. Team members were trained to empower residents with memory impairment to be as independent as possible. This is achieved through tapping into each resident’s remaining strengths, designing environments they can thrive in, and helping them find purposeful activities and meaningful roles within their community.

Silver Level organizations have resident-led committees, multidisciplinary Learning Circles, effective signage and environmental cues, personalization of resident spaces, and ongoing team member training by credentialed internal trainers, among many other milestones.
